Drottningholm Baroque Garden

Sweden’s largest Baroque garden on Lake Mälaren, with a strict axis and fountains.
Hedvig Eleonora had Nicodemus Tessin the Younger design the palace and garden after French models, with Versailles as the example. The parterres were laid out in patterns and follow a clear axis from the palace.
The garden was changed in the 18th century when parts were remade as an English park, but the Baroque garden has been restored. The palace area has been on UNESCO’s World Heritage list since 1991.
