A handbook and specimen of types, ornaments and the first point system for type sizes.

Fournier introduced a point system in 1737 which Didot later refined and which is still used. His light, narrow romans reflect Rococo taste. Copies are in the St Bride Library in London.

Materials: Paper, letterpress

Manufacture: Fournier himself cut punches for hundreds of types and small ornaments that could be combined into borders.

The type ornaments – small flowers and scrolls put together like building blocks.
