Educational boxes of balls, cubes and blocks that teach children form through play.

Fröbel founded the first kindergarten in 1837. His gifts influenced both pre-school education and architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, who played with them as a child. Examples are in the Fröbel Museum in Bad Blankenburg.

Materials: Maple or beech, wool

Manufacture: The blocks were cut in exact proportions to a cube, so they always fit back into the box.

The cube divided into smaller cubes and slabs by simple measures.

The box the blocks must be packed back into – order as part of play.
