A Rococo ring like a little garden: a flower vase of coloured stones in openwork gold.

Giardinetti means little gardens, and the rings were popular as gifts around 1750. They show the Rococo love of flowers and light forms. Examples are in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum.

Materials: Gold, silver, rubies, emeralds, diamonds

Manufacture: Small stones set in an openwork frame shaped as a vase or basket of flowers.

The openwork shape – you see the finger through the ring.

The stones in different colours as flowers.
