Giverny

Claude Monet’s garden with its water-lily pond and Japanese bridge – a garden made to be painted.
Claude Monet moved to Giverny in 1883 and put great effort into the garden. In 1893 he bought land across the road and dug a pond, which he filled with water lilies.
In his last decades he painted the lily pond again and again. The garden was restored in the 1970s and 80s and is now open to visitors.
