Green Dining Room, South Kensington

The world’s first museum restaurant, decorated by Morris’s firm with green walls, olive branches and painted panels.
The room was one of Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co.’s first large commissions and made the firm known. It is still used as a café in the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Materials: Painted wood panels, plaster, stained glass
Manufacture: The plaster was cast in relief with olive branches; panels and windows were painted in the firm’s workshops.
The olive branches in relief climbing over the green walls.
The painted panels with the months and figures by Burne-Jones.
