Haga Park

Gustav III’s English park by Brunnsviken – designed by Fredrik Magnus Piper with pavilions, tents and winding paths.
Fredrik Magnus Piper had studied landscape gardens in England and was commissioned by Gustav III to lay out the park at Haga. He became Sweden’s foremost advocate of the English park.
The king planned a great palace that was never finished, but the pavilion, the Copper Tents and the small buildings remain. The park is today part of a national city park.
Materials: Grass, trees, water; buildings of wood and copper
Manufacture: Laid out from the 1780s; the ground was shaped and trees planted to Piper’s plans.
Open, rolling lawns and clumps of trees.
Pavilions in various styles, such as the Chinese and the Turkish.
The Copper Tents, which look like tents but are buildings.
