A hammered silver teapot with a lid like a flower bud, Georg Jensen’s first great success.

Georg Jensen opened his silversmithy in Copenhagen in 1904 and made Danish silver world-famous. The Blossom pattern appeared in 1905 and is still made. Examples are in Designmuseum Danmark and the Metropolitan Museum.

Materials: Silver, ivory or ebony handle

Manufacture: Hand-raised with a soft hammered surface; the bud and leaves chased and soldered on.

The softly shining, lightly hammered surface – Jensen’s hallmark.

The bud on the lid and the little leaves at the foot.
