The decorated tin for biscuits that was kept in the home for storage after the biscuits were eaten.

Huntley & Palmers in Reading began to sell biscuits in decorated tins in 1868. The tins were made by Huntley, Boorne & Stevens in many shapes, such as books, baskets and ships.

After the biscuits had been eaten the tins were used in homes for storage. They are collectors’ items today and show how advertising and packaging could become ornaments.
