Carlo Bugatti’s chair in which back and seat are one curved, snake-like form covered in vellum.

Bugatti showed the chair in his ‘Snail Room’ at the Turin exhibition of 1902. It is counted among the most fantastic objects of Art Nouveau. One is in the Brooklyn Museum in New York.

Materials: Wood covered in painted vellum, copper

Manufacture: A wooden frame bent into a circle, covered with stretched vellum and decorated with painting and copper.

Back and seat form a single round band, like a cobra rearing up.

The vellum surface painted with insects and flowers.
