Lego brick
The plastic brick with tubes inside, which holds together and comes apart.
Lego made toys in wood and then in plastic. The first plastic brick had only studs and held poorly. In 1958 Godtfred Kirk Christiansen patented the brick with tubes inside.
This made the bricks a system in which everything fits together. The idea has made Lego one of the largest toy makers in the world.
