Marantz Model 7

The preamplifier with the gold-coloured front, a reference of the valve era.

Saul Marantz was a graphic designer and music lover who began building amplifiers in his basement. The Model 7, designed with the engineer Sidney Smith, was a valve stereo preamplifier with very low distortion.

The symmetrical gold-coloured front became Marantz’s hallmark. The preamplifier is sought after today and has been reissued in new versions.
