Wiener Werkstätte brooch by Koloman Moser

A square silver brooch with semi-precious stones in a geometric grid.
The Wiener Werkstätte made jewellery from inexpensive materials and put design first, unlike the jewellers’ precious stones. The brooches are early examples of geometric design. Examples are in the MAK in Vienna.
Materials: Silver, semi-precious stones (malachite, lapis, carnelian)
Manufacture: Handmade in the Wiener Werkstätte workshop; stones in simple square settings.
The square shape and the stones in a regular pattern.
The WW monogram and Moser’s initials on the back.
