Viennese Secession glass with simple shapes and a shimmering surface, made for E. Bakalowits Söhne.

Moser designed glass from about 1899, as he was founding the Wiener Werkstätte. The glasses show Vienna moving towards geometry and simplicity. Examples are in the MAK and the Leopold Museum in Vienna.

Materials: Iridescent glass, sometimes with metal mounts

Manufacture: Blown at Bohemian glassworks to Moser’s designs and sold through the Bakalowits glass shop in Vienna.

Straight, geometric forms instead of Art Nouveau’s plant tendrils.

The subdued iridescence the Secession preferred to Tiffany’s strong sheen.
