Monaco – Monte-Carlo

Advertisement for the train to the Riviera, with a woman among flowers and a sea.
Mucha made the poster for the PLM railway company, which ran trains between Paris and the Riviera. The picture tempts travellers with sun, flowers and an image of pleasure.
The poster shows how tourist advertising in the 1890s sold a dream of a warm south of France.
Materials: Colour lithograph on paper
Manufacture: Printed as a colour lithograph in Paris in 1897.
