The yellow running shoe with black stripes that became a classic.

Kihachiro Onitsuka started the company in Kobe in 1949 and made shoes for Japanese athletes. The Mexico 66 had stripes on the side that made the shoe easy to recognise.

The shoe received renewed attention in the film Kill Bill in 2003, in which Uma Thurman wears a yellow jumpsuit with black stripes and shoes in the same style. The company later became part of Asics.
