Opinel knife

The folding knife with a wooden handle and a ring that locks the blade.

Joseph Opinel began making folding knives in Savoy in France around 1890. The knife was made for farmers and workers and could be produced cheaply in series.

The locking ring came in 1955 and made the knife safer. The form has hardly changed and is used in the kitchen, in the field and on picnics.

Materials: Beech or other woods, carbon steel or stainless steel

Manufacture: Factory-made in Savoy, in sizes numbered from 1 to 13.
