Peter the Great’s garden by the Gulf of Finland, with cascades and more than a hundred fountains.

Peter the Great wanted a garden that could compete with Versailles. Jean-Baptiste Le Blond drew the plan, and the water comes from springs on higher ground without pumps.

The fountains run on the water’s own pressure. The garden was badly damaged in the Second World War but was restored after the war.

Materials: Fountains, cascades, gilded sculptures, canals and park terraces
