Ping Anser

The putter with its weight in the heel and toe – the most copied golf club in the world.

The Norwegian-born engineer Karsten Solheim worked at General Electric and began making putters in his garage. By putting the weight at the ends the club stayed stable even when the ball was not struck in the middle.

The Anser appeared in 1966 and is considered the putter that has won the most major tournaments. Almost every maker has copied its form.

Materials: Brass or steel, steel shaft

Manufacture: Made by Karsten Manufacturing (Ping) in Arizona from 1966.
