Robe à la polonaise

The gown with the overskirt drawn up in three puffs at the back, fashionable around 1775–1785.
The polonaise gave a lighter, more rustic silhouette that suited the period’s love of nature and walks. It was worn in silk and in printed cotton. Examples are in the Metropolitan Museum and the Kyoto Costume Institute.
Materials: Silk or printed cotton
