Priester
Lucian Bernhard’s poster for matches of 1905 – only the product and the name: the Sachplakat.
Lucian Bernhard entered a competition for a poster for Priester matches and submitted a design with only two matches and the name. The design is said to have first ended up in the waste-paper basket before it won.
The style, the Sachplakat, became typical of German posters before the First World War. The designer died in 1972, so only a drawing is shown.
