Light, pale creamware for ordinary tables – industry’s first great mass-produced service.

Wedgwood was allowed to call his creamware Queen’s Ware after an order from Queen Charlotte in 1765. He sold it through a catalogue and showrooms, making fine porcelain-like ware cheap. Examples are in the Wedgwood Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Materials: Creamware with lead glaze

Manufacture: Cast and thrown in moulds after standard models; decoration printed or painted; sold from a catalogue.

The cream colour and thin, light edges.
