Rolex Datejust

The first self-winding chronometer wristwatch with the date in a window on the dial.
The Datejust came out for Rolex's fortieth anniversary in 1945 and showed the date, which changed at midnight. The Jubilee bracelet was made for the model, and the lens that magnifies the date later became a hallmark of the whole brand.
Materials: Steel, gold or both; self-winding movement
Manufacture: Made in Geneva; the fluted bezel was first in gold.

The date disc changes quickly at midnight. The magnifying lens over the date, which Rolex calls the Cyclops, appeared in the 1950s.
