Roemer

The green wine glass with knobs on its stem that appears in almost every Dutch still life.
The roemer was the glass for Rhine and Moselle wines for centuries. Pieter Claesz and Willem Claesz Heda painted it again and again. Examples are in the Rijksmuseum and the Corning Museum of Glass.
Materials: Green forest glass
Manufacture: Bowl and hollow stem blown in one; the prunts applied as drops of glass and pressed out.
The applied glass drops on the stem, which gave a sure grip to greasy fingers.
The foot made of a glass thread wound in a spiral.
