William Kent’s garden by the River Cherwell, an early English landscape garden.

William Kent remodelled an older garden for General Dormer and let it follow the shapes of the landscape. The paths lead from one feature to the next, and the views are planned like pictures.

Rousham keeps much of Kent’s original composition, which is unusual. It counts as one of the best-preserved examples of the early landscape garden.
