George IV’s seaside palace with an Indian exterior and a lavish Chinese fantasy inside.

The pavilion shows the Regency taste for the exotic and how new industrial technology could be hidden behind decoration. It is run by Brighton & Hove Museums.

Materials: Painted wood, cast iron, silk, glass

Manufacture: Behind the exotic surfaces lay modern technology: cast-iron columns, gas lighting and a large kitchen.
