Scent bottle from Sèvres

The small porcelain bottle for scented water, painted in strong blue and gilded.

In the mid-18th century the porcelain manufactory at Vincennes and then at Sèvres made small bottles for scented water and smelling salts. They were carried in a pocket or on a chain by ladies at court.

The bottles are small works of art and show the Rococo taste for colour, shape and decoration.
