Skegness is SO bracing

A jolly fisherman skipping along the beach – the railway’s advertisement for a seaside resort.
Hassall sold the image for twelve guineas and did not visit Skegness himself until much later. The Jolly Fisherman became the town’s symbol and is still used today. Copies are in the National Railway Museum in York.
Materials: Colour lithograph on paper
Manufacture: Printed for the Great Northern Railway in flat colours with clear outlines, to be seen on station platforms.
The fisherman’s bouncing stride and fluttering scarf.
The simple, clean colouring visible from a distance.
