The multi-layer ball that became the standard on the professional tour.

Titleist launched the Pro V1 in October 2000 and the ball was put into play on the professional tour the following week. It combined long flight with a good feel around the green.

The multi-layer ball quickly replaced the older wound balls on the tours. It shows how materials and surface patterns have become part of the technology of the game.
