Unikko
The poppy that became Marimekko's hallmark.
Marimekko's founder Armi Ratia said the company would not print floral patterns. Maija Isola nevertheless made a whole series in 1964, and Unikko became the best known of them.
The pattern suited the large windows and simple furniture of the time and has been printed in many colourways. It became a symbol of Finnish design.
