Visiona 2
Verner Panton’s total environment on a Rhine boat at the Cologne furniture fair of 1970 – a room without furniture, where everything can be sat or lain on.
Each year the chemical company Bayer invited a designer to show new materials on a boat on the Rhine during the Cologne furniture fair. In 1970 Verner Panton filled the rooms with a soft, colourful cave.
Visiona 2 summed up the space age’s dream of a new way of living. The design is protected, so only a drawing is shown.
Materials: Foam, textile, lighting
Manufacture: Built for the chemical company Bayer’s exhibition to show new synthetic materials.
Floor, walls and ceiling flowing together in soft, padded forms.
Strong, saturated colours in reds, oranges, violets and blues.
No separate furniture – the room itself is the furniture.
