Willow Tea Rooms

The tea room in Glasgow where everything, from chairs to spoons, was designed.
Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald furnished the Willow Tea Rooms for Kate Cranston in 1903. The rooms had different colours and moods, and everything was designed for them.
The tea room shows the Glasgow Style: Art Nouveau with straight lines and grids, which influenced the Viennese more than the British.
Materials: Painted and stained wood, glass, metal and textile
Manufacture: Made specially for Kate Cranston's tea room.
The very tall chair backs with lattices.
Grids and straight lines instead of curves.
The rose and the willow as recurring motifs.
