Wilson Pro Staff
The small-headed tournament racket played by Stefan Edberg and Pete Sampras.
The Pro Staff became the professionals’ racket in the 1980s and 1990s. The frame is heavy and stiff and gives control, but the player has to create the pace.
Pete Sampras played a Pro Staff through his seven Wimbledon titles, and Roger Federer’s rackets have been built on the same shape.
Materials: Graphite and Kevlar frame, gut or synthetic strings
Manufacture: Made by Wilson from the 1980s; the original model has an 85 square inch head.
