Zsolnay vase with eosin glaze

A Hungarian Art Nouveau vase with a metallic shimmering glaze in green, red and violet.
The Zsolnay factory at Pécs showed eosin glaze at the Paris Exposition of 1900. It was used on Art Nouveau vases, tiles and sculpture. Examples are in the Zsolnay Museum in Pécs and the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest.
Materials: Faience or porcelain-faience with eosin glaze
Manufacture: The eosin glaze is fired in a reducing atmosphere that makes the metal oxides form a shimmering film.
