Courrèges

André Courrèges's fashion house in Paris, known for the white, straight-cut clothes of the Space Age, short skirts and flat boots.

André Courrèges had worked for Cristóbal Balenciaga for ten years before opening his own house in Paris. Trained as an engineer, he shaped clothes with straight lines and firm fabrics.

His 1964 collection was called Space Age and showed short A-line dresses, trouser suits and flat white boots. He vied with Mary Quant for the credit for the miniskirt. The house continues under new owners.

White, silver and bright colours, straight lines and carefully placed seams.
