Fiskars
Founded as an ironworks in the village of Fiskars in Finland; the scissors with orange plastic handles of 1967 are its best-known product.
The Fiskars ironworks was founded in a village in western Uusimaa and made nails, wire and tools. In the 19th century it set up Finland's first cutlery works and became known for knives and farm implements.
The scissors with orange handles of 1967 were made with a new injection-moulding technique. Fiskars grew into a group that also owns Iittala, Arabia, Rörstrand and Royal Copenhagen, and the village of Fiskars is today a centre for crafts and design.
Orange handles and Fiskars stamped on the blade; Made in Finland on older scissors.
