Fiskars scissors
The scissors with orange plastic handles shaped to the hand.
Fiskars in Finland is one of the oldest companies in the world. In 1967 it launched scissors with plastic handles, designed by Olof Bäckström.
The plastic handles made the scissors lighter and cheaper and could be shaped to the hand. The orange colour became so well known that it has been protected as a mark.
Materials: Stainless steel, plastic
Manufacture: The blades are stamped and ground; the handles are injection-moulded in plastic.
The handles shaped to the fingers, different for the thumb and the other fingers.
The orange colour, which became a trademark in itself.
The lightness compared with older cast-iron scissors.
