Lamy

Pen maker in Heidelberg; the Lamy 2000 (1966) by Gerd A. Müller and the Safari (1980) made the company a design icon.

Josef Lamy bought a pen factory in Heidelberg and made fountain pens under the name Orthos and then Lamy. His son Manfred Lamy invested in design and hired Gerd A. Müller, who designed the Lamy 2000 after Bauhaus ideals.

The Safari of 1980, by Wolfgang Fabian and Bernt Spiegel, was made for schoolchildren in sturdy plastic and became an international classic. Lamy has since worked with designers such as Richard Sapper and Naoto Fukasawa.

A sprung steel clip, matt plastic and model name stamped; date code on some pens.
