Lamy Safari

The fountain pen in tough plastic for schoolchildren, with a large metal clip.
Lamy wanted to make a pen for schoolchildren, and Wolfgang Fabian and Bernt Spiegel designed it to be durable and easy to hold. The first colours were green and red.
The Safari became popular far beyond school and has come out in new colours every year.
Materials: ABS plastic, steel clip, steel nib
Manufacture: Made in Heidelberg from 1980.
The large clip of bent metal.
Flat surfaces where the fingers rest.
A window for the ink.
The Safari appeared in 1980.
The body is made of ABS plastic. The grip has flat surfaces that show where the fingers should rest, and a window in the barrel shows how much ink is left. The clip is bent from steel wire.
Every year the Safari comes in new colours. The AL-star, with an aluminium body, is based on the same shape.
