Saul Marantz’s company in New York; preamplifiers and power amplifiers, later receivers.

Saul Marantz was a graphic designer and amateur musician in New York who built a preamplifier for his own use. The Model 1 of 1953 was the start of the company.

The Model 7 preamplifier of 1958 and the valve amplifiers became sought after by audio enthusiasts. The brand survives today under Japanese ownership.
