Rolls-Royce

Charles Rolls and Henry Royce’s luxury cars; the Silver Ghost (1907) and the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot (1911).

Henry Royce built electric cranes and motors and then cars, and Charles Rolls sold cars in London. Together they founded Rolls-Royce and concentrated on cars of the highest quality.

The Silver Ghost of 1907 gave the company its reputation for silence and reliability, and the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot was designed by Charles Sykes. Since 2003 the cars have been made by BMW at Goodwood.
