Rörstrand

Sweden’s oldest ceramics factory, first in Stockholm, from the 1920s in Gothenburg and then in Lidköping. Faience in the 18th century, then earthenware and porcelain; Art Nouveau vases by Alf Wallander and services such as Mon Amie and Ostindia.

Rörstrand was founded in Stockholm to make faience, and in the 18th century the factory made services and tiled stoves. In the 19th century it moved on to earthenware and porcelain.

Alf Wallander's Art Nouveau vases and Marianne Westman's Mon Amie of 1952 became classics. The factory moved to Gothenburg and then to Lidköping, and Rörstrand is now part of the Fiskars group.

18th-century faience was marked Stockholm, Rörstrand or R with a date; from the late 19th century three crowns and a year mark.
