Rörstrand tureen
A curving faience soup tureen with painted flowers – the Rococo table from the faience factories of Stockholm.
Rörstrand was founded in 1726 as Sweden’s first faience factory, and from 1758 Marieberg on Kungsholmen competed with it. In the Rococo period both made services, tiled stoves and ornaments.
Swedish faience was often carefully marked, with the factory’s name, the day and year and the painter’s initials. That is why it can be dated exactly.
