Rossignol

French ski maker from Voiron in the Alps; skis of wood and later of fibreglass.

Abel Rossignol was a carpenter in Voiron in Isère who made wooden skis. The company became one of the world's largest ski makers.

Rossignol was early with skis of metal and glass fibre, and the Strato ski of the 1960s became a success among racers. The company is still in Isère.
