Vans

American shoe brand from California, known for canvas skateboard shoes.

Paul Van Doren, his brother James and two partners opened the Van Doren Rubber Company in Anaheim in 1966. The company made the shoes to order and sold them directly to customers.

Skateboarders in California began to use the shoes in the 1970s, and the film Fast Times at Ridgemont High of 1982 made the brand known. Since then Vans has belonged to skate and street culture.
