Volvo
Began as a subsidiary of SKF in Gothenburg; the first car, the ÖV 4, came in 1927. Known for safety, such as the three-point belt (1959).
Assar Gabrielsson and Gustaf Larson started Volvo as a subsidiary of SKF, and the first car, the ÖV 4, came in 1927. The name comes from the Latin for I roll.
The PV444 of 1944 became the Swedish people's car, and the Volvo 240 of 1974 became a symbol of safety. Nils Bohlin's three-point seat belt was released free to all manufacturers. Volvo Cars is now owned by Geely.
