Wedgwood
Josiah Wedgwood’s factory in Staffordshire, which industrialised ceramics with creamware and jasperware and early methods of marketing.
Josiah Wedgwood opened his factory in Burslem and then at Etruria in Staffordshire. He developed creamware, which became Queen’s Ware after an order from Queen Charlotte, and jasperware with white reliefs on a coloured ground.
Wedgwood used early marketing methods such as catalogues and showrooms and worked with artists such as John Flaxman. Wedgwood is now part of the Fiskars group.
Impressed WEDGWOOD; from 1860 three letters of which the last gives the year, from 1891 also ENGLAND.
