C. R. Ashbee
Architect and silversmith
English Arts and Crafts pioneer who founded the Guild of Handicraft, with silver in simple hammered forms.
Charles Robert Ashbee founded the Guild of Handicraft in London in 1888 and moved it in 1902 to Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds.
The guild’s silver, with visible hammer marks, looping handles and semi-precious stones, influenced both the Wiener Werkstätte and Georg Jensen.
