Aubrey Beardsley
Illustrator
English draughtsman whose black-and-white lines and large empty areas shaped the graphics of the 1890s.
Aubrey Beardsley made his name with the illustrations to Oscar Wilde’s Salome in 1894 and was art editor of The Yellow Book.
He died of tuberculosis at 25 but had time to influence both Art Nouveau and poster art.
