W. A. S. Benson
Metalwork designer
English designer of lamps and metalwork in copper and brass, one of the first industrial designers.
William Arthur Smith Benson was a friend of William Morris and opened a metal workshop in London in 1880.
His lamps and jugs were factory-made from standard parts, but in the plain, honest forms of the Arts and Crafts movement.
